The Philippines is set to make basketball history as it hosts the highly anticipated Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur (FIBA) World Cup 2023, scheduled to kick off on August 25. In light of this momentous occasion, all public-school classes and government work in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Bulacan will be suspended for the day.
With the aim of ensuring a seamless and successful opening ceremony for the FIBA tournament, both the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Department of Education (DepEd) have decided to temporarily halt government operations and public classes across all levels. This strategic decision aims to facilitate smooth traffic flow and enhance the safety of the thousands of basketball enthusiasts expected to converge at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan for the grand opening ceremony.
Acknowledging the significance of ensuring safety during this major sporting event, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies are poised to collaborate and implement stringent security measures throughout the FIBA World Cup opening. Their collective efforts are geared toward safeguarding the well-being of all attendees, participants, and guests.
